After the French Mémoires de Fanny Springler by Mme Beccary, a novel in the form of letters in which Beccary writes of the misfortunes of Fanny, and the consequences of pursuing a libertine lifestyle. The original work in French was among the risqué or scandalous books on the inventory list of Marie Antoinette’s library.
Elisabeth Bekker or Betje Wolff (1738-1804) was a Dutch writer, best known for her close friendship and collaboration with Agatha/Aagje Deken (1741-1804).
