Reverse of a medal of the alliance between France and the United Provinces, 1666. France as Minerva holding her spear in her right hand, extending her shield over Holland with a lion reposing at her feet, with between them an altar and a cliff and sea behind them. Above: ‘RELIGIO FOEDERUM.’; below: ‘BATAVIS TERRA MARIQ. DEFENSIS. M.DC.LXVI.’ With below in letterpress a description of the medal and translations of the inscriptions into Dutch’. Used in: Historische gedenk-penningen van Lodewyk den XIV. T’Amsteldam, by Andries van Damme, 1712, p. 89.
