Thanking speech by Pliny Secundus – or Major, to award his uncle, the natural scientist Pliny Major – after his appointment as consul by the emperor Trajan. There are nine books with letters preserved by the literary and politician Pliny (62 – 112 AC). This edition of ‘Panegyricus Trajano’ with previously unpublished notes by professor Dominicus Baudius (1561 – 1613) from Leiden and with his inaugural speech about this work from 1603, was jointly published by Hackius from Leiden and Pierre Elzevier from Utrecht. The latter has signed the address for the work to the pensionary Caspar Fagel. There are only very few copies of the edition with the address of P. Elzevier, because he ended all of his business in this period. ZKL0067
