[EN] Funeral procession of the deceased Wirtz Hamburg in March 1676. Above left the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam. Underneath the portrait of Wirtz in an oval, on the bottom on the right a list of the participants in the procession. Muller and Van Stolk date the picture wrongly on 24 October 1676. Wirtz distinguished himself in the war between Sweden and Poland, and was knighted by the Swedish king as Baron Ornholm. Later, he went into the service of the Republic of the United Netherlands until he resigned early in 1674. Two years later he died in Hamburg and three years after his death, his corpse was reburied in Amsterdam in the Oude Kerk (NNBW I, 1581). Signed on the bottom under the epigraph:’ROMANUS DE HOOGHE’.
