A practical legal handbook concerning the jurisdiction of the Court of Holland and the High Council, the competence of courts, and the duties of judges, advocates, and procurators within the legal practice of the Dutch Republic. The concept of “forum competens” refers to the competent court of law: the question of which court had jurisdiction to hear a particular case. Within the complex judicial structure of the Republic, this constituted a fundamental legal issue. An important practical work on Roman-Dutch law.

Provenance: From the library of jurist H.A. Stein (pasted in exlibris). Second former owner inscription J.D.V.L.
