Two prints representing farmers from Zaandam. One shows a woman holding a young girl by the hand. The girl holds a flying bird by a lace. This impression is titled: ‘Paysanne de Saardam’ and is signed: ‘P. vanden Berge inven: et schulp: / G. Valck ex Cum Privilegio Ordin: Hollandiae et West Frisia.’

The second impression shows a man holding a girl in his arm. Titled below in French and Dutch: ‘Paysan de Saardam / Boer van Saardam.’ Signed: ‘Pet: Schenk exc: Amst C:P:’

These impressions come from different editions of a set of ten prints designed by van den Berge, showing the costumes of people from Dutch villages.

Nicely hand colored.
