Title page of an edition of the “Biblia Sacra” with a plate representing a flying Mercury over the Earth holding an opened book in his hand: “DOCTA PER ORBEM SCRIPTA FERO.” The plate is the printer’s device of Claude Bourgeat, appearing also on other editions issued by Bourgeat. One of these from the same year bears the names of Aubry and Thourneyser, whereas the present plate shows a monogram on the bottom left, ‘HT’, with the T superimposed on the dash of the H.; on the bottom right: ‘sc.’. On the mount are some decorated engraved initials, possibly coming from the same edition: C, S, and two Is. The edition is dated in Roman numbers, M. DC. LXIX. (1669).
