Pamphlet. Haec Libertatis Ergo, of Brandmerk van de Stadhouderlike Regering, Aan de Vrye Nederlanden, [1704], 14 pp.

Anonymous satirical poem in which the author calls for an end to the reign of the stadtholders, in favour of true freedom. The period governed by the House of Orange was nothing more than tyranny, according to the author.
The impressum states a fictious printer. It details the pamphlet was printed in ‘Vrystad’ by ‘Waarmont Staet-Vorst in’t Wapen van de Oude Vryheyt, naest het welvaren van het Vaderland’. In an article found via DBNL is included a letter from Gouda author Jan van Hoogstraaten to Pieter van der Veer in which the former reveals the admission of fellow townsman and printer Lukas Kloppenburg: not only did he print the pamphlet in question, he also sold the illicit work under the table.
