Defeat of the Zeeland and Scottish regiment before the battle of Nieuwpoort, between the Dutch States army under Ernst Casimir van Nassau and the Spanish army under Albert VII of Austria, 2 July 1600. Depiction of the battle and the military formation, within a decorative cartouche. Below a verse: ‘Nobilissimo, generosissimo et fortissimo Viro, D. Guillelmo Edmontio … fortiter occumbentium dicauit’; and signed: ‘Flor.
