Portrait of Johan Willem Friso van Oranje-Nassau (1687-1711) in an oval frame. On the right a landscape with a battlefield. At the bottom he sinking of the ship where Friso died. On the right a putto with a cloak on his head, pointing at the scene of the death of Friso.
Inscription below the oval: ‘JOHAN WILLEM FRISO, Prins van Oranje, enz. enz. enz.’ Signed at bottom: ‘Gerard Sanders invenit. / P. Tanjé del. et sculp. 1751’ Lettered in the lower margin: ‘Societ. Bibliopol. Roterod. Excud.’
On verso annotations in pencil concerning the regent’s dates of birth and death.
