Portrait of Catharina Mulder, a fierce orangist who became rather famous for her political battles in favour of the Dutch monarchy. She was a fish vendour from Rotterdam and here she is represented in a coffee house. The text below reads: ‘Zie hier het Evenbeeld van Kaat het Mosselwyf, / KEET ZWENKE, ‘t booze hoofd der Plunderende Oproergieren / Van ‘t muitend Rotterdam: een Beest dat, buiten kyf, / Reeds dikwils heeft verdient de hoogste Galg te sieren; / Een Ondier dat voor ‘t Huis, by ieder thans gehaat, / (Ten minsten in het hart der Waare Patriotten) / Haar best doet dat het ras, ten wisbederf van staat / Sich alleenheerschend zag, om ‘s Burgers heil te knotten. / Erken, myn Landgenoot, haar tot uw, val gereed, / In ‘t afgebeeld Pourtret van Rottes Ruige Keet. ‘
Details in the print are hand colored in orange, namely the bows that decorate Catharina’s attire, on her head, elbows and shoes.
