Marot, Daniel (1663?-1752)

[Original etching and engraving by Daniel Marot] Decorative vase with the arms of Great Britain/Decoratieve vaas met het wapen van Groot Brittanie.

Vase without handles with a cylindrical body, with a crowned coat of arms of Great Britain at the center. On both sides of the coat of arms are allegorical figures. A burning bullet on the lid. Signed at bottom, with privilege: ‘Avec Privilege des Etats Generaux / jnventé et gravé par D. Marot.’
Plate included in a set of designs by Marot, architect of William III. Published in The Hague around 1701.

Etching and engraving on paper, trimmed to plate mark; total: 248 x 192 mm; a small tear on the left margin, repaired from verso; damp stain on the top right corner, otherwise in good condition. The Rijksmuseum holds a later copy from this plate.
