after Vinne, Jan Vincentsz. van der (1663-1721)
[Original drawing] Scholenaar (Schoolenaer) [set: ‘Gesiten buyten Haarlem’], 1842.
River landscape with fishermen on rowing boats. On the right, further towards the background a dead body hanging from the gallows. Numbered on the bottom right:7. Monogrammed on the bottom left: ‘K.H. 18(42)’. Figures ’42’ are added in black ink. The artist who drew the composition after a print, traced with pen and brown ink a double-lined frame around the landscape and another encompassing a wider area. On the bottom right corner in pen and brown ink: ‘N07’. Therefore, the effect obtained is that of a trompe l’oeil, since the whole composition gives the idea of being a drawing (or print) mounted on a mat. 18(42).
