The Don Cossack Choir Serge Jaroff (Russian: Хор донских казаков Сергея Жарова) is one of the most famous Russian Cossack choirs in the world. It was led by its founder Serge Jaroff for almost sixty years. Jaroff stood out for his conducting style, as did some of his Russian contemporaries. He was small in stature and stood in front of the choir almost without moving. He conducted by moving only his head, eyes and fingers. When a Cossack dance was performed on stage, Jaroff would conduct only the first bars, after which he would leave the choir to itself.
