Manuscripts 1719 + 1725 | Large legal charter on parchment with red seal, dated 1725: Signed by James Jenyns from Hayes, Saint Andrew Holborn Middlesex, Nathaniel Curzon, John MacCulloch, Chiswick (?) etc. Very decorative manuscript.
Charter, legal contract / indenture for John Macchulloch (McCulloch) of Chiswick, Jane Serjeant (died nov 25). First charter dated 1719 and second charter 1725.

On the back: received the day and near first within written and from the within names John MacChulloch the summe of four hundred and forty pounds being the full consideration within mentioned to be paid by him to me in manner and within express. Signed J. Boughton, Charles MacCulloch et al.
67 x 72 cm. 2 pages attached to each other with original rope. Parchment in good condition, except for some smudges on the back and some discoloration on the front. Overall still in good shape.
With stamp from the Stamp Act with a crown and letters G and R curled together and the number 337. With additional stamps on blue paper: VI pence and the stamp honi soit qui mal y pense : shame on him who thinks evil of it.
St Andrew Holborn was an ancient English parish that until 1767 was partly in the City of London and mainly in the county of Middlesex.
James Jenyns from Hayes (Father’s town) was admitted to the Inner Temple in 1702, his call year was 1708. The Inner Temple is an unincorporated membership association which has existed since the 14th Century. The Inns of Court hold the exclusive right to Call students to practise law at the Bar of England and Wales.
