Pierius Winsemius’s “Amores” (Franekera, 1631) is a collection of elegant Latin love poems written in the humanist–Ovidian tradition, reflecting the refined academic culture of the Franeker University in early 17th-century Friesland. Text in Latin.

[NL] Liefdesgedichten door Pieter Winsemius, geboren in Bolsward in 1586 en overleden in 1645. Hij was Latijns dichter, historicus en hoogleraar aan de Universiteit van Franeker. Bekend als zoon van de geleerde Gellius Winsemius (predikant en classicus) en vertegenwoordiger van de Friese humanistische kring in de 17e eeuw. Hoogleraar geschiedenis en welsprekendheid (Rhetorica & Historia) aan de Academia Franekerana, de Friese Universiteit gesticht 1585.
