Pieter Bernagie wrote his plays under the motto “Latet quoque utilitas”. These words appear under a vignette showing two arms throwing a volant (looks alike de snaai van zwerkbal, the snitch of quidditch of Harry Potter), each wrapped in a cloud and armed with a racket. After 1685 Bernagie’s theatrical works are accompanied by different vignette: two female figures (probably the muses of tragedy and comedy) stand on a small elevation on both sides of a sphere as they throw a volant. Around the sphere bearing a ribbon with the words “Late quoque utilitas”, the attributes of tragedy and comedy are scattered.
