(Frontispiece) Father Time/Vadertje tijd.
Father Time, at the top left is holding up a large curtain from the stage where many allegorical characters are represented. At center the personification of history is sitting with an opened book on her lap. She is surrounded by deities and personnages from the past, like Adam and Eve, Athena, Storiography and Genealogy in particular are addressing to History, showing her the boards they are holding. On the front right corner are the Liberal Arts; on the left is Mars with the personification of a city and another planning a strategy of attack against a fortification; On the top left corner, among the clouds are Zeus and the gods of the Olympus; in the middle towards the background are religious and historic personnages like Moses, Aaron and Diogenes whereas in the landscape is the Babel tower, the Lighthous of Chartagine, the Cholossos of Rhodi, the pyramids.
Signed and dated on the bottom left: ‘B. Picart invenit et sculpsit 1726.’
On verso, collector’s mark not identified (L. 2641b) possibly belonging to W. Nijs a collector in Rotterdam. His collection was sold around 1922.

III?/3; mounted on light cardboard, bottom left corner loose; glue of the mounting showing through the paper on the corners, some light foxing on the bottom and top margins, otherwise in good condition.
