Text edition of Suetonius with comments and a detailed index by professor Boxhorn (1612 – 1653) from Leiden. He wrote Latin poems and comments to many more Roman works. He was the first to classify not only Greek, Germanic, Roman and Slavic languages under Indo-European languages, but also Persian, Sanskrit and the Celtic and Baltic languages. He suggested the existence of a primitive common language which he called “Scythian.” Hendrik Boom and his sister-in-law Johanna, the widow of his brother Dirk, worked together in the bookshop from 1681 to 1709. This is a very rare edition.
