In the first plate, some figures stroll around a garden with classical architecture and a mausoleum.

Signed with the address on the bottom left: A. Genoels f. Rome.

In the second plate, an Arcadian landscape with a temple. In the foreground some women at the edge of a forest. The print is part of a series with classical landscapes as its theme.

Een Arcadisch landschap met een tempel. Op de voorgrond enkele vrouwen aan een bosrand. De prent is deel van een serie met klassieke landschappen als thema. Gemaakt door Abraham Genoels (1640-1723). Arcadië of Arcadia is een utopisch land vol bloemen, fruit en bossen, helder water, vogelzang en een eeuwige zomer. Al in de klassieke oudheid maakten deze elementen deel uit van een ideaal-landschap dat er ooit geweest zou zijn in een verloren Gouden Tijd aan het begin van de geschiedenis van de mensheid.

Etchings on laid paper, trimmed within and on plate; total: 197 x 147 mm, 114 x 165 mm; the first plate show some signs of wear, a curious blurry effect towards the bottom, due to the plate moving in the printing process; a worm hole in the sky; some light brown stains on the other plate, otherwise overall in good condition. Mounted on laid paper, in cardboard passepartout. Hollstein 17, and 29.
