[Antique print, handcolored etching] DE NIEUWE KERK, published ca. 1735.

Hand colored view of the Nieuwe Kerk in The Hague (de Nieuwe Kerk in Den Haag) from the side. Within the church ground on the right, some men exercising. Just outside the wall people selling second hand products (tweede hands), like clothes, art, vases etc.

This print was used in: Jacob de Riemer’s: “Beschryving van ‘s-Graven-Hage…” Delft and Den Haag, 1730-1739.

Titled above, on a ribbon: ‘DE NIEUWE KERK.’ Signed at bottom: ‘G.v. Giessen del. / J.C. Philips fec. direx. / R. Boitet Excud. Cum Privil’.


Handcolored etching on paper with margins; plate mark: 288 x 348 mm, total: 318 x 372 mm; two sheets joined together on the verso, tear on the top middle joint; some staining on the external margins, some smudges, otherwise in good condition.
