View of a crowd of people gathered around a circular cock fighting ring. Two small birds face-off at the left. The shadow of a man holding a coin purse looms large over the ring. At the center of the crowd is a a man who appears to be blind with a pile of money in front of him. The man to the right of him is stealing one of the bills.

From the Sporting Magazine (vol. 10) published in 1797. According to the British Museum, “the commentary on the print in The Sporting Magazine, vol. 10 (1797) describes it as taking place at Newmarket where, it is stated, Nan Rawlings, was “a famous cock-feeder.””

Engraving on paper; total: 208 x 221 mm; a small damage on the top margin, some rubbing, otherwise in good condition.
