Frontispiece to a collection of poems by Johan Beets, publihsed with the title: ‘Mr. Johan Beets Dichtkonst van verscheide stoffen; waar achter bygevoeghde brieven van R. Hogerbeets, en andren, rakende den auteur en vrunden, zijn toegepast…’.

Seated under a column on the right in front of a river is Apollo, playing a violin beside Pan. Some putti are flying holding a shield bearing the title. The title is framed by an horoborus, the snake beating its tail, symbol of eternity.

Signed on the bottom: ‘Mr. B. Bruinvis invent. R. A Persijn sculp.’

Engraving on paper, trimmed within plate mark; total: 196 x 136 mm; two lines in brown ink are written above the mountains on the left and some other scribbles in brown pencil.
