[EN] Gallaeus was a Walloon preacher in Zierikzee and Haarlem and the author of the book published in 1688 concerning the sybille.
His portrait is in this book included in the preparatory work. Two states of this print are known, as in Hollstein, the I state reads: ‘Opt. de Dei Eccles. merito past. Gall. Harlemi’ in the lower part; II. these words have been removed but are somehow visible. Signed lower right: ‘posuit R. de Hooge 1686’. Published in ‘Servatius Gallaeus, Dissertationes de Sybillis earumque oraculis, apud Henricum & viduam Theodori Boom’, 1688.
