[Antique print, etching] Dijkdoorbraak bij Coevorden [Dike breach at Coevorden, 1st October 1673], published 1675.

Dike breach at Coevorden on October 1, 1673. The enemy cavalry and artillery are washed away by the water, in the distance the city of Coevorden.

Top left the 1-11 notes describing the scene. Used as illustration in Lambert van den Bosch: ‘Tooneel des oorlogs, opgerecht in de Vereenigde Nederlanden door de wapenen van de koningen van Vrankryk en Engeland, Keulsche en Munstersche bisschoppen…’ published in Amsterdam in 1675, volume IV, p. 80.

Inscribed on ribbon above the cityscape: ‘Het Doorbreken van den Dyck by Coeverden’.
