Portrait of Willem Opperdoes, at the age of 100. Opperdoes survived the explosion of his ship in 1704. This event is depicted in a drawing to the left hanging from the wall in the background. To the right of the wall hangs a painting of the Waag in Haarlem, where Opperdoes was a warden until his death.

Inscription at the bottom: ‘WILLEM OPPERDOES, geboren te Haarlem 26 Decemb: 1674… leeft’er nog in Welstand.’ Signed and dated at bottom: ‘Naar ‘t Leevn getek: en in ‘t koper gebragt door C.V. Noorde, 1774.’

[NL] Portret van Willem Opperdoes, op 100-jarige leeftijd. Opperdoes overleefde de ontploffing van zijn schip in 1704. Deze gebeurtenis is op een tekening links aan de muur afgebeeld. Rechts aan de muur hangt een schilderij van de Waag in Haarlem, waar Opperdoes tot aan zijn dood waagmeester was.
