Portrait of Jan van Duvenvoorde (1547-1610), Lord of Warmond, aged 32, half-length, slightly to left, resting his hand on the hilt of a sword; oval design surrounded by strapwork ornament and cartouche below. Counterproof, the picture looks reverse to the original print. 16th century paper with a wide watermark.

Lettered above (mirrored) “HGoltzius fecit”. Lettered around the oval “EFFIGIES V.N. … IANI … VERO XXXII”. Lettered below in six lines “Janus ego, … illa maris.”

[NL] Antieke prent van oude meester Hendrick Goltzius. Portret van Jan van Duvenvoorde, heer van Warmond, een van de leiders van het verzet tegen de Spanjaarden. Afgebeeld vanaf kniehoogte, schepen in de achtergrond. Het portret is geplaatst in een ovaal, rondom een Latijnse tekst. Op deze prent is Van Duvenvoorde 32 jaar oud. Tekst in spiegelbeeld afgedrukt.
