Trompe l’oeil with five sheets of printed paper on a mat. One of the pages has several letters and symbols from the alphabet in a gothic font; another sheet presents psalm 130 with the music; another shows the frontispiece of the 1770 edition of Willem Bartjens’ “De vernieuwde cyfferinge van mr. Willem Bartjens, waar uyt men meest alle de grond-regulen van de reeken-konst leeren kan…” published in Amsterdam, showing a portion of the portrait of the author; another reproduces the title page with vignette of an edition of “De Heydelbergse catechismus, met de voornaamste schriftuurplaatsen, op yder vrage toegepast,: tot stichtinge der gemeinte, en leeringe der christelyke jeugd, om die in kerken te beantwoorden…” as published in Kampen by Aegidius Valkenier (end 18th century); a title page of a collection of Psalms of David, published in Amsterdam in 1746, bearing a representation of King David playing the harp.
