A group of four peasants, most likely a family, conversing while resting on a path. In the background a village. A man (the father?) is standing on the left, smoking a pipe and carrying a chair on his left shoulder. On the right a woman (the mother) is sitting beside a tree with a child leaning his head on her lap. A girl stands on the path, holding some sticks and a monkey is leaning against her leg.
