Bust portrait of theologian Festus Hommius, turned towards the left, looking at the observer. In oval frame and further rectangular frames. Inscribed under the portrait: “FESTUS HOMMIUS, SS. Th. Doct. Collegii Theol. Illustr. Ordin. Regens.”, with address: “Lugd. Bat. ex Officina Petri Vander Aa.”
Listed among the 36 Philosophy professors in Leiden, collected by van der Aa in the “Fundatoris, Curatorum et Professorum celeberrimorum aliorumque illustrium virorum…” published in Leiden between 1715 and 1716. According to van Someren, this portrait was designed by Jan van de Velde.

Engraving with some etching on paper from three plates; larger plate mark: 347 x 252 mm, total: 408 x 327 mm; some wear on external plate, paper slightly aged, most external margins with smudges due to handling, traces of previous mounting on verso, slightly cooked paper especially on left margin.
