6 Tragedies in two bindings, some of which are rare:
olume 1:
1) Gabinia tragedy in French by Mr. De Brueys, improved in this second edition, 1756, 64 pp.
2) Romulus tragedy, third edition, 1754, 56 pp.
3) Pertharitus, king of the Lombards tragedy, after P. Cornelle, second edition, 1756, 67 pp.
4) Stilico tragedy after T. Corneille, second edition, 1755, 72 pp.
Volume 2:
1) Pyrrhus, second edition, 1755, 64 pp.
2) Brutus, second edition, 1756, 64 pp.
3) Marius, second edition, 1757, 56 pp.
All with title pages with engraved vignettes (see photos) and published under the motto Studio Fovetur Ingenium. This is probably Sybrand Feitema, who, following the example of the Rhetoricists, always signed his work with a motto: Studio Fovetur Ingenium (The mind is cultivated through practice). Feitama became famous mainly for his excellent translations of plays.

Interior in very good condition: pages very fresh and bright. First page with stamp Library Gebr. A. van Lier Amsterdam. This is the Theater Library of the directors of the Amsterdam Grand Théâtre Abraham van Lier and his three sons Isouard, Lion and Joseph, the ‘Lier Brothers’. See article by Paul Post in DBNL.org about this unique library. Hoogduitsche Schouwburg in the Amstelstraat in Amsterdam. The library was auctioned in 1931.
