Paper theater or diorama, made up out of several sheets representing different scenes. Together they form a three-dimensional view. Windows have been cut into the individual sheets to reveal details of the scene. The prints have been hand colored. Etchings and watercolor. Size of the sheets: 7,5 x 9,5 cm.
This theatre spectacle consists of 5 sheets, numbered on the back (missing number 3). The set shows a village with towers that are struck by cannon balls, one sees a fortress before this village with soldiers climbing the walls. People are carrying woven baskets. The fashion is Victorian.
The sheets are in good condition. Very attractive decorative paper art object.
[NL] Papieren theatertje met een belegering tafereel. Men ziet in de achtergrond een dorp met torens dat belegerd wordt met kanon kogels, daarvoor een fort waarbij soldaten omhoog lopen. Mensen lopen met gevlochten manden buitenverblijf en een grote tuin met fontein en zuilenpoort. Victoriaanse kleding. Decoratief stukje papierkunst. Met originale papier als kaft.
