Part two of the series “Geschenk voor de Jeugd”. In historiography, opinions are divided as to whether this qualifies as a journal. Paasman (1970) calls it a children’s magazine, although he points to the irregular frequency of its issues. Others consider the “Geschenk” to be more like a volume that was published in single parts. The even numbers each contain varied works: there are many poems, anecdotes, aphorisms, a song (with musical notation), and other material. There is even an explanation of the rules of life for children (about fresh air, clothing, eating and drinking, sleep, exercise, disorders of the mind).
