Hardcover drop back box of modern snakeskin leather, 24 x 22 cm. Title on box is the mathematical symbol for “is not equal to”. Four diptychs, each with a photomontage on the left and a linocut on the right. Each diptych is bound in black velvet with grey velvet inlays reproducing the image of the linocut. Limited edition of 8 copies. Signed by the author/artist.

Only 1 other copy known in the National Art Library, Victoria and Albert Museum.

[NL] Slangenleren opbergdoos in mooie conditie. In de doos 4 tweeluiken met zwart en grijs fluwelen band. Daarin een fotomontage aan de linkerkant en een linosnede aan de rechterkant. De fotomontage reproduceert de afbeeldingen van de linosnede. Slechts 8 exemplaren gemaakt, dit is exemplaar 4.

Frans Baake (1958-) studeerde grafiek aan de Akademie voor Kunst en Industrie in Enschede en daarna in Amsterdam. Hij woont en werkt in Enschede, Nederland. Hij is gespecialiseerd in artists’ books, kunstenaarsboeken, en grafische werken: hij maakt boeken in beperkte oplage (in dit geval 8) met combinatie van fotografie, tekeningen, collages en teksten. Grafisch werk met aandacht voor vorm, structuur en materialen. De materialiteit is belangrijk.
