Printer’s device of Willem van de Water, active in Utrecht between 1689 and 1713.

It shows a Fama flying in the sky, over a city with towers [Utrecht], playing a trumpet. From the trumpet hangs a flag with a sun. Two cornucopias depart from the bottom center and frame the scene on the sides. An inscribed ribbon at bottom: ‘PAX APTIUM ALTRIX’.

Xylography on paper, mounted on a sheet of laid paper; total: 55 x 40 mm; in very good condition.
