View of the St. Bavo Church in Haarlem, from the South East side; very detailed etching; signed on the bottom right, above the text: ‘P. Saenredam Jnvent. / J.V.Velde sculp.’ on the bottom left ‘Ian Kraalinge Excudit’ twelve lines of Dutch text below: ‘Dit is’dat Groote vat… kerke staet!’. The address of the print publisher suggests that this is the third state. In our stock is available also the first state (62015). This plate with other eleven was meant to decorate Samuel Ampzing’s “Beschryvinge ende Lof der Stad Haerlem in Holland…” published in 1628 in Haarlem.
Etching on paper with small margin; plate mark: 159 x 237 mm; total: 167 x 242 mm; state III/3; thin paper, some smudges, some dirt on the corners, but in great condition; Hollstein 420; Franken 480.
