Portrait of the Flemish born sculptor and architect Giambologna (Jean de Boulogne) at the age of 60: bust facing right in oval. The oval frame is placed into an architectural frame with allegorical figures. Lettered within the frame: ‘IOHANNES BOLOGNIUS BELGICUS STATUARIUS ET ARCHITECTUS AET. ANN. LX.’ inscribed on cartouche: ‘Jacobus Kinig Germanus…. M.D.L.XXXVIIII.’ further lettered below: ‘VENETIS / G.V.F.’ Signature on the verso in brown ink: ‘Joannes Stradanus’. Signature not original.
