Beautiful portrait of Amalia van Solms (1602-1675) in an oval. On the bottom some elements representing her interests: a book, a globe and some embroidery work. A large lyre at the bottom of the frame. Inscribed on the oval: ‘AMELIA Gravinne van Solms…’. Signed: ‘G.v. Honthorst Pinx. / J. Houbraken sculps. 1753’. On verso pen and ink inscription, likely from the 19th century. This bust portrait is drawn from a larger composition at the Rijksmuseum (SK-A-874). The Dutch Crown Princess Amalia van Oranje is named after Amalia van Solms.
