[Original mezzotint] The Dutch Officers upon Guard / Corps de Garde des Officiers Hollandois/Nederlandse officieren, before 1821.

Dutch guard room where officers sit, smoking long pipes, one sitting is showing a map of Holland, an officer sitting to the right is writing a letter and on the left another is lighting the fireplace. Lettered below the image with the title in English and French, and ‘C. Troost Pinx,,t // Pether fecit // Printed for Jn.o Bowles at the Black Horse in Cornhill, and Carington Bowles in St. Paul’s Church Yard London.’ The original drawing is at the Amsterdam Historisch Museum, inv. 217 (coll. Fodor).

Mezzotint with some etching on paper, trimmed close to plate; total: 257 x 364 mm; in very good condition. On verso, traces of previous mounting. Niemeijer 1973, nr. 708, p. 360. ca. 1746-1821
