Original etching on washed paper with watermark: J. Whatman Turkey Mill 1855. 420 x 490 mm. Three restored tears on the edges, many folds in the paper in the top (empty) part. Interesting rare view of – most likely the North part of Germany. Houses in Renaissance style, a Donjon, half timbered houses, etc. In the mill the name “Schermer” is engraved, maybe with reference to the artist or the name of the mill. One sees a mine, excavation and people in the front with a long pipe and one sitting in the grass.

[NL] Zeldzame prent, ets, met een groot stuk lucht. Daaronder heuvels en kerktorens, molens, een boerenkar, schapen en boeren in actie, een mijn waaruit gegraven wordt en op een boerenkar wordt gelegd. Koetsen met mensen en een hooiwagen oid. Heuvellandschap. Meest waarschijnlijk een Duits landschap door de vakwerkhuizen en de renaissance stijl huizen, een donjon, etc. Kan ook een fantasielandschap zijn.
