David slays Goliath with a stone. In the background a tent camp with soldiers. In the foreground a group of soldiers who look back to the falling Goliath. Illustration of the Bible text 1 Sam. 17: 49. Under the illustration the title in Hebrew, English, German, Latin, French and Dutch. Signed on the bottom: “G. Hoet delin. / Sluiter sculp.” Initially, this print was to be included in “Figures de la Bible”, published in Amsterdam by Bernard Picart in 1720. This plate is also included in:”Taferelen der voornaamste geschiedenissen van het Oude en Nieuwe Testament (…) door de vermaarde kunstenaars Hoet, Houbraken, en Picart getekent (…) en met beschrijvingen uitgebreid.”, published in Den Haag by Pieter de Hondt in 1728. To be dated between 1720 and 1728.
