Georg Balthasar Probst (1732-1801)
Beautiful view on the Korte Vijverberg, next to the Hofvijver in The Hague. On the right-hand side Peter Post’s ‘Het Mauritshuis’. A glimpse on the eighteenth century The Hague. Curious are the trees at the end of the street on the left, marking the area of the actual Plein. On the other side of the street is an enclosed garden, where nowadays is the Parliament (Tweede Kamer).
Inscribed at bottom in four languages: ‘Conspectus piscinae brevioris; juxta hortos Sagittarioru Hagae Comitis.
Trimmed within plate mark, therefore the inscription ‘ Med. Fol. No. 19. Cum Gratia en Privilegio Sac: Caes: Majestatis. Georg Balthasar Probst. Excud. A.V.’ is missing.
