On the left: Adam and Eve (Gen:2), Consecration of the Firstborn (Ex:13), The Covenant of Circumcision (Gen:17); The Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread (Ex:12); At Mount Sinai (Ex:19); Arad Destroyed (Num: 21); Annunciation (Luk:1); The Nativity (Luk:2); The Baptism of Christ (Math:5); The Last Supper (Math:26); The Crucifixion of Jesus (Math:27); The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost (Act:2). In the Netherlands on Newyearsday children would visit family and recite the self-written letters to parents and grandparents in exchange for a gift. The tradition died out in the early 20th century.
