Original litography dated 1835. Total size, 660 x 800 cm. Paper a bit cooked and browned but the colours of the handcoloured flags are very bright. With a repaired tear on the right bottom side, not affecting the flags.
Hydrographer J.W. Norie compiled several books about the illustrations of Maritime Flags of all nations. Later augmented by hydrographer J.S. Hobbs. The original print dates 1819 (text at the bottom of the litho): published as the Act directs, July 12th 1819 by J.W. Norie & Co at the Navigation Warehouse and Naval Academy no 157, Leadenhall Street London. On the top right the text is therefore: Is most respectfully dedicated by their obliged & humble Serv ! J.W. Norie, Hydrographer, &c.
