Opposite to the title page is a lithograph of the author by P.W.M. Trap after a photograph taken by H.G. de Boer. The lithograph is primitively colored. Minor signs of damage, in good condition.

The author founded the first chamber of rhetoric in South-Africa. Books on the history of Afrikaans drama often refer to Adriaan van der Hoop Juniorszoon, but Van der Hoop Juniorszoon is virtually unknown in Dutch literary history. L0285
