This rare children’s book is written by Léontine Pauline Jeanne Samary (1857-1890). Samary is better known as a French actress and frequently posed as an model for the famous painter Renoir. She wrote Les gourmandises de Charlotte for her children. This beautiful work contains an introduction by the well-known French poet and play writer Edouard Pailleron (1834-1899). The illustrations are made by Job, which is an alias for Jacques Marie Gaston Onfroy de Bréville (1858-1931). His charming soft coloured illustrations are full of expression and excitement.
