Classic Latin work of Tacitus, the famous Roman Historian and senator know for his critical and detailed accounts of the Roman Empire. Edited by Jacobus Gronovius. Second volume of his work. With the five books of histories, germania, his ethnographic work describing the customs, lands and peoples of ancient Germany, and the life of Julius Agricola, the biography of Tacitus’ father in law who was a Roman general responsible for much of the conquest of Britain. The authorship of the last rhetorical treatise Dialogue on Orators, has been debated.
Full vellum binding in good condition. Missing a small part of the shield on the spine (left top corner). With text on the spine: Taciti Opera Gronovii TOM II. The full series consists of two volumes. Text hard to read.
