Floris IJff werd geboren op 6 april 1798 te Assendelft. Hij was vanaf 1821 veehouder en tot 1881 Grondeigenaar. Vanaf 1828 was hij lid van de gemeenteraad. Hij is overleden op 1 maart 1881 in Assendelft op 82 jarige leeftijd. Zijn eerste huwelijk was met Immetje Kleijn, het tweede huwelijk met Neltje Houwertjes.
