This book contains four humorous stories about a rooster named Kantekleer. The character Kantekleer (Cantecleer) finds his origins in the fables of Reynard the Fox. In his adventures he often outsmarts his cunning opponents. Marie Hildebrandt (1881-1947) translated these stories in beautiful Dutch verse. The illustrations are by the French illustrator, comic book artist and animator Benjamin Rabier (1864 – 1939). His work has inspired many other artists like Hergé and Edmond-François Calvo. For the stories of Kantekleer, Rabier used his distinctive style with clear colours and comic like facial expressions. B2335
