On the right, a frozen canal with skaters (schaatsers op het ijs). Signed and titled below: ‘Januarius / ’t Amsterdam bij Nicolaus Visscher met Privil:’; numbered below on the right: ‘1’.
Partially hand colored with brown, red and yellow.
Etching and engraving on paper, hand colored with margins; plate mark: mm, total: mm; state II/2; watermark with fool’s cap; smudges on the external margins, due to handling. Two holes on the most external left margin, possibly due to a former simple binding. Date of print between 1600-1650.
